Retrospective

Yesterday after work, I went to a reception for a retrospective of one of my favorite former professor's art. I really loved the life drawing classes I had with him. It was an exciting series of classes in that everyone in the class could really draw well. For a prof that didn't give many A's, we had the one class that got all A's. He told me yesterday that not everyone had A work but it was all A effort.

I saw some familiar old faces of several of my former professors. Only saw two others that were students at the same time as me. Not many of us still in town. I figured it up and I met these faculty members 35 years ago.

Quiet Kitty

When I got home last night, Eienstein didn't have anything to say. At all. He acted totally normal, not sick or injured at all but he just wasn't meowing and he's usually really vocal. At least he answers when you meow at him. He did finally start talking a little later on though. Hmmm. What was that about?

Well, it finally got to be cooler. Won't be long before I'll need to get my plants inside. Had to break out the heaters this week.

Souvenier

Co-worker Vicki went to New York City last week. Told her the only thing I wanted her to bring me back was some great memories to share. Figure that's the easiest thing to pack. But she surprised me with chocolates from Max Brenner's. Yum! These are dark chocolate thins with Ecuadorian Cocoa Bits. She also had a lot of celebrity sitings this trip including The Apprentice Celebrity Edition team selling hotdogs for charity. I'll have to ask her again who they all were. I can't remember.

They're Baaaaaaaccck!

Who? Those people on my tv. We have visuals again! Who knows, maybe the appliance healing preacher drove down our road today.

What a week! My work week was a four-day one, but there was at least six days of work crammed into it. I missed Monday, but Tuesday and Friday both felt like a Monday. In addition to actual work which was plentiful, we stayed after on Wednesday to decorate our office. There was a competion for decorating for Homecoming week. Ours turned out great but there was some stiff competition. The two that tied for first place were of the very pretty variety. Ours had some rough edges but was oh-so-creative. I'm generally pretty creative, but everyone involved was just as creative as I and it was a great effort.

I'll add here that my boss really likes to win. When someone asked him if he got second place, he said "There's no such thing as second place; second place is just First Loser." It was funny watching him pretend to be a good sport but seeing him seethe when the competition turned to walk away. He's such a dork.

But there were no second or third places anyway, just the winner. Or winners in this case. The prize was free bagels and coffee from the designer shop of the contracted food service on campus. We decided that the judges were looking for pretty and not creative. Lots of people came up and told us they couldn't believe we didn't win. I mean we had a limousine! HaHa.

Plus with all that silliness, our secretary was out so I ended up being back-up on some ordering, work order stuff. Plus I've been trying to plan a retirement party for one of our staff. Blah blah blah, busy busy.

Move Along, Nothing To See Here

The tv shone brightly the next time I turned it on. Well, not brightly right at first. It took a few minutes and then the images faded into view. And repeated the next day.

Last night? Not so lucky. Just been listening. Nothing to see.

It is actually a little freeing to have no picture albeit no fun. Easy to move about and do other stuff knowing you're not missing a thing when your tv is just prentending to be a radio.

Is it even worth taking a tv in for repair any longer? Could I even get this monster into the car? Gene's strong arms brought it into the house years ago.

Oh well, too much going on right now to worry about repairs or replacing it now. I'm compelled to do too much resarch before jumping up and making any big purchase so it'll take a while.

Who knows, maybe that preacher that healed the air conditioner will stop by again.

My TV As A Radio

Tonight, I turned on my tv and there was only audio for about 30 minutes. Sure was glad the visuals started working again. As much as I enjoy tv, that would have been some bad news. But I guess I'm on notice now. The tv has done some flickering type stuff in the past and now this. I'm going to hate turning it off tonight wondering if it'll come on again. Not long ago, I was listening to tv on radio one night while driving. Was listening to Heroes. Almost three quarters of it was in a variety of languages other than English. I'm watching Heroes tonight and they've kept it in English this episode but I'm still glad I can see it. If the tv goes out for good, will I take the opportunity to upgrade? Will I just replace my old school tv or will I spring for cable or satellite and a tv to utilize such tecnology?

Cooler Weather

Last night was the first night I didn't use the air conditioner since I got it working a few months ago. It was that cool. I did use the fan to sleep under but that was mostly for the noise.

Got home today and Eienstein had lost his collar. Time to restock. Down to the last spare.

I'm thinking about joining in on NaBloPoMo (National Blog Posting Month) which entails posting every day for the month of November. I don't know though. That's a big committment. Some weekend days, I don't even log on to the computer. I'm so undisciplined; once I log on, I just can't seem to get off the computer. I just surf and surf and surf and wait for pages to load at breakneck dial-up speeds. Easy to blow a weekend that way, you know.

I'm so undisciplined. I keep telling myself that I want to get to bed earlier. I'd like to have a stretch of time where I get eight hours of sleep nightly and see how I feel. They say we don't get enough these days. It's already 10:30 p.m. and I'm not even ready to turn in. I wanted to make a post here, and then I'll want to check out some blogs, and then I want to watch at least one of TV shows I recorded. Blah. Blah. On and on, and before you know it the alarm goes off in the morning and I'm draggin myself downstairs to greet another day.

This looks like a good place to say, Night Night! Oh wait, I just remembered I got a stack of magazines in the mail ... let me look.

Just Like a Monday

Here's how my day started.

Got the window repaired. Picked it up after work.

And then to wrap up the day? Stopped by the grocery store on my way home. When I came out, I had a flat tire.
