A Couple More Inaugural Shots

I found these that are pretty great, too, HERE. The scarey thing is that this GeoEye 1 satellite can discern objects on the ground as small as 16 inches in size, which represents an object about the size of home plate on a baseball diamond. I guess that's how they spotted those cows in my cousin's pasture?

What Does a Crowd of 1.9 Million Look Like?

I hope you can see, load, whatever -- this panoramic shot of the inauguration. It is the best shot of the event I've come across.

Look at it full screen, and if you've got the time, let it do it's slow crawl pan. It's fun to take the time to look at all the details. And then after that, fun to do the click/drag thing to look all the way up to the top of the sky, and then to the floor beneath the camera. You can see the names written on pieces of tape where the photographer is supposed to stand beneath their feet. So many details in the crowd. I was surprised to see Yo Yo Ma so far up above the main stage. And you can tell the trumpets are heralding at that moment. There are so many things to see and they are all so clear. Hope this link works for you. For the Inaugural panoramic, click HERE.

Isso. Issnot.

I've never laughed out loud reading a medical journal before, maybe a chuckle here or there, but this really caught me off-guard.

I was reading an article in The Journal of Family Practice which was a PURL (Priority Update from Research Literature). The article, "Saline irrigation spells relief for sinusitis sufferers," debated the merits of recommending nasal irrigation for rhinosinusitis. The article indicated they used a 20-item survey to assess symptom severity. This survey was called -- ready for it? -- the Sino-Nasal Outcome Test.

Yes folks, the SNOT-20.

And every time SNOT-20 was mentioned throughout the remainder of this article, I laughed anew.

Digging Through Old Photos

I just ran across this photo of Gene from Christmas 2003. A classic with his Christmas bow boutonniere on a pink bike with that stogie. That's Uncle Dammit!

Gene, Christmas 2003.

Thought I'd throw in this one of the kids because I love how it just looks fun! They're having so much fun on the new trampoline in their Christmas finery. Maybe I'll see if I can find some recent photos of these kids to compare 2003 to 2008. My how they've grown!

The Big Meanie!

Siblings have thier own brand of torture and I never forgot this one ... when I was just a little thing, my sister eight years my elder called me a "moron." I asked her what it meant. She told me to go look it up. But when I asked her how to spell it so I could look it up in the dictionary, she refused. The big meanie! Funny how I remember this but she has no recollection of it at all. Grin.

Something To See

I was going through my old posts and saw a lot of drafts saved. First drafts, ideas, photos, etc. that never got published to my blog for whatever reason. Sometimes they eventually were but the draft just never was deleted. I just decided that when I don't have anything currently blogworthy, you're going to see those drafts dusted off and published here.

For starters, here's a photo of my sister, neice and myself at Dad's 90th birthday party back in November 2007. If this was a photo that was included in another post and the draft just didn't get deleted, oh well, you get to see it twice.

Martha, Cassie and me.

And here's a PS for you --
It may be cheating but I'm scheduling this to post tomorrow. So unless something noteworthy happens that I have just got to blog about or if I just don't have time to ramble, you'll still have something to see when you come to visit.

I'd Wondered About This, Too

Came across this little illustration today. I wonder how much he's going to age, too. Mainly wanted to put this on my blog so I can come back and look at it. Wow, I'm assuming I'll be doing this blog a really long time!

2009 Is Here!

In an effort to blog more often, thought I'd try the keep 'em short and keep 'em coming tactic.

Came down with a bad cold right after Christmas. On the mend. Today was first day back to work, and it was kind of like a Monday.

Got some solar powered yard lights for Christmas, the kind you stake in the ground. Here's an effort at not working so much -- I'm only working 45 min over today! I'm headed home to see if my new lights work.

I've got so many photos since I got my camera. Maybe I'll find time soon to put some of them up.

Later!
