In The Past Couple Of Weeks

We've had some visitors at work lately.

Andres and Monica came back to town for a friend's party and stopped by to see us. Of course we made a lunch stop at one of our favorite spots.

Me, Monica, Vicki, Osiris, Andres and Christine.

Neil came by while on leave. He was headed back the next day. Really glad to see old friends when they've been living in harm's way the past couple of years.

Me and former student worker, Neil.

Good TV, Good TV

After being in time out, the TV was happy to start working again when I plugged it in tonight.

I Have New Eyeglasses

I have new eyeglasses. I picked them up at the post office just this morning --

And it's a good thing, too.
Since everyone was looking at the new glasses, no one noticed this --

Oooops!

-- and the people I work with? Had anyone noticed, they would have immediately called me out on it with glee! Hehe. Dodged that bullet!

TV-land

My TV wouldn't turn on this morning. What's that about?

Are You Paying For High Speed Internet?

You may want to check the speed you are actually getting. Scroll down and look on right side of my blog under the archives section and you'll see a Speed Test icon under the clock. Click on that and choose any city, wait, and it'll do a check on your connection and you can see how fast it really is.

Happy Valentine's Day

Have you seen the Zales commercial where the guy at his desk is holding up a necklace in front of the framed picture of his sweetheart so he can see how it would look on her neck? It is my favorite commercial of this saccharine season this year.

Awwwww.

Tink

Don't know why but recently every time I try to type the word think, I have to go back and correct it because it comes out tink.

Out My Window

Here's the view out my window at work this morning. The skies have opened up with quite a storm! Looks like night out there.

Rules Of Thumb

Someone is attempting to collect all those "rules of thumb" guestimate tools in one place.

For example --When ants travel in a straight line, expect rain. When they scatter, expect fair weather.

Or when dealing with notorious non-payers, always charge twice as much as the job will actualy cost, then get half the money up front.

Or when giving your age, odd-numbered ages seem older and more worldly wise than even-numbered ages.

Or for estimating the length of a rainshower - If animals enter a building during a rainstorm, it will be a short shower, if they stay outside, it will be a long rain. My dad has told me that one about chickens before.

Last Friday

I walked up to the ATM and the first thing I saw was a receipt someone had left behind. A quick look showed they had pulled a hundred dollars from their checking leaving a balance of $24,736.40 -- my first thought was, "Who in this little podunk town keeps 25K in their checking account?"

Someone that just has that kind of cash flow? I wonder what their savings and investments look like?

Someone who just got a settlement and this is all the money they have in the world to rest them the last of their life?

Someone who moved money to their checking, pulled out $100 for some pocket money, and now headed to the city to plunk down a chunk of change on a new car?

What do you think?

Eienstein's Home

He finally showed up around 10pm. Complete with big cat fight yeowls out there in the dark. Guess he was telling some other cat(?) about it. He walked up the the house all jumpy and acting wierd. After he ate, he went and looked out the window for a while. Then went upstairs and rummaged around for a while. Now he's back to laying by the back door. He'd just love to go out there and what? Take on whatever is out there? Run from it? Who knows? I do know he'll have to wait until daylight to go outside. I hate when I call and call him after dark and he doesn't show for hours. But he is a big ol' cat that does a good job of taking care of himself I guess. At least I'll be able to sleep well knowing he's safe inside tonight.
