Hurricane Ike Evacuee

Well, I'm in the Dallas/Ft Worth area and doing fine. Although I'm very stressed since the eye of the storm is passing over my house right this minute. We are so far inland, I don't know of many people from my area that left. I just got too nervous and had to take friends up on their offer of a place to stay. So grabbed the cat and took off on Friday afternoon. Have heard from some of my relatives north of Houston and they are okay. But can't reach the sister near Beaumont.

UPDATE: Just talked to the sister and they are ok.

Another update: Just checked the website and looks like no work until at least Wednesday due to the power outtages in the city.

Cameras

Horror of horrors! My camera broke! I squeezed out a few last photos which still sit on the memory card. The camera did hold up well for me as rough as I was on it. It's got dents and stories to tell!

I'm shopping for a new one. I keep borrowing ... "Hey, have you got your camera?" (See Sept 3, 5 and 8 ... not my camera!)

It's been a long time that I haven't had a regular full-sized camera in my purse at all times. I'm shopping for a much smaller one this time. Will see what I end up with. But I don't think I can go very much longer without one!

Surprise Visit

How exciting to see someone at my office door, turn to look and see Andres and Monica standing there! What a great surprise! Sure miss them!

This Weekend

Had to take the car in to get something checked. And of course had to go by the shoe store that had sent me generous coupons for my birthday. Was compelled to go in and at least look, right? Was able to pick up a wedding gift (not at the shoe store) and a few other things before heading back to the country from the city. Had to rush home and take care of some stuff.

Then I managed to get in some sleep and naps the next day. I was really really running on fumes and needed to recharge.

SAMpler

A fantastic visit today from Kasey and Blake. I woke up at 4 a.m. this morning because I was so excited they were coming to visit! I really miss all you guys in that "SAMpler" group! (Is SAMpler and group redundant here?)

Mid-fifties Not So Bad

Had a good birthday. Vicki made me this three-layer chocolate cake. I think she said the cake part had 3.5 oz of semi-sweet chocolate and a cup and half of cocoa. The icing had ONE POUND of chocolate. I had a big piece for breakfast with a good cup of strong black coffee. Good start to the day.


Vicki said this cake "had it's lean on." (Me and Vicki.)

After work, went to the pizza place with co-workers. Good time.
